South Yorkshire builder Rok helps us

A team of volunteers from Rok has carried out the first of the three challenges - helping the Friends of Charnock Recreational Ground to upgrade their facilities on Carterhall Lane, South Sheffield

Working alongside members of the Friends group, Rok also enlisted the help of local firm MCP, who donated a digger and driver for the day and Champion Hire who gave road barriers, signs and tools

Those who attended cleared the drainage ditch running alongside the hedgerow of debris and overgrowth, which had been creating a blockage and causing flooding to the football pitch.

Andy Stubbs, communities team leader at Rok, said: "In response to the Rok Community Challenge appeal in the Star, the Friends of Charnock Recreational Ground applied for our help with their project. After meeting the group and assessing how Rok could best use its resources to assist the group in meeting its goal, we have agreed to help them clear the drainage ditch that runs alongside the field and is currently blocked causing the football pitched to flood."
